We need to develop the ability to guard our hearts and ask for blinders so that we can only concentrate on God’s face and His perfect plan. We can miss out on the best that God has in store for us if we live with our eyes half off the Lord and are preoccupied by duties, obligations, and daily demands. We are easily diverted.Ĭhristians get sidetracked in this fast-paced world like a child chasing a flying butterfly. Sometimes God wants us to take a risk, but if we’re paralyzed by fear, we might miss out on a chance He has for us because we’re unwilling to take a chance. We become skeptical of God’s ability to intervene and change our circumstances out of fear. We might easily be blown off course and cling to the fallacy that our fear is more significant than our omnipotent Father if we are not anchored and planted in faith in the midst of life’s storms. We find ourselves aimlessly straying from the Lord’s best when we lose confidence in our salvation and experience a restless stirring in our soul. It’s simple to forget Jesus’ death on the cross and its profound atonement when our minds and hearts aren’t focused on Him. When we “play church” or simply follow the rules of Christianity, our eyes become blurry and our senses become deaf to the wonder of God’s grace. Have you ever experienced periods of spiritual complacency and restlessness? If that’s the case, you would not be the first to do so and you also wouldn’t be the last. God’s grace is something we take for granted. ( Everyday We Stray Further From God ) 2. We disobey God’s command and reestablish our own selfish hearts’ dominion, being arrogant and haughty in the process. As we go through the daily grind, we learn to manage life by making rash decisions and acting on impulsive emotions, which quickly leads us astray from God’s path.īy turning our attention away from the Lord, we are subtly asserting that we are fully capable of choosing our own path and navigating this world. We stray from God’s best when we trust our feelings rather than His promises. Let him know that anyone who makes an effort to alter a sinner’s course will spare a soul from death and pardon a great number of sins.
